I'm intrigued by slitscan photography and other visual/temporal shenanigans. I'm especially interested in some of the 'video slicing' techniques I have seen and wanted to try it out for myself. Never could find any suitable software - so I gave up looking and wrote my own tool using Processing. :) This video is a compilation of my initial experiments, using my own nature videos as source files. Love the abstract, moving shapes and colors - especially the way the ocean waves are transformed, yet still recognizable. Each frame of the video is a horizontal stack of a 1 pixel, vertical slices of a video image. The left of the frame is the beginning of the video clip, the right side is the end. The animation effect is created by moving the location of the vertical slice from the left of the original video frame to the right. In effect, swapping time and space. :) The music is by a group called Rare Silk who created some amazing jazz-fusion vocals in the 80s.

Kevin has lived in Bonnington Square since the mid-seventies. I lived there between the mid-80s and the mid-90's, for 11 years. During my time there the two adjacent squares of Vauxhall Grove and Bonnington Square where squatted, predominantly by artists: musicians, puppet theatre artists, sculptors, photographers, illustrators, dancers, installation artists, actors, writers.... , and painters like me.

A 2 day pre-nuptial shoot that took place in one of the historical places in the Philippines - Ilocos Sur. For 2 days we were able to film in 12 locations. The team was overwhelmed on Mel and Pee Gee's energy during the pre-production. Against the heat of the sun and exhaustion from traveling we still had a great time producing the video. Mel and Pee Gee is an amazing couple. We felt the love between them that's why we never hesitated to take shots of everything.

She runs Cuddle U NYC out of her studio apartment downtown and charges $80 for an hour-long cuddle session. Ali’s cuddles are based on a re-parenting therapy rooted in nurturing touch. Long Description: As technology becomes evermore present in all our lives, People are getting far less face time and human interaction than ever before. Ali C., runs a business out of her apartment where she offers cuddle sessions to New Yorkers. Ali says many people find it strange that someone would go cuddle with a complete stranger, but what they don’t understand is that cuddling is actually rooted in touch therapy and a technique called inner bonding, developed by Dr. Margaret Paul. People always assume that there’s something odd about touching someone you don’t know, but in reality the cuddle is completely nonsexual. As a teenager, Ali volunteered in a convalescent home where she would spend time with people who were wheel-chair bound or had Huntington’s or Parkinson’s disease. Ali worked in web design and social media marketing before she founded her snuggle business four months ago. So far Ali has had more than 40 cuddle sessions, and people keep coming back for more.

Milwaukee area residents turned in 32 tons of electronic waste and 3.5 tons of pharmaceuticals during two events in EPA Great Lakes 2008 Earth Day Challenge. About 3.5 tons of pharmaceuticals were turned by the public during Medicine Collection Day on Saturday, April 19, 2008 organized by the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD). The Milwaukee Department of Public Works (DPW) organized an electronics collection on Saturday, April 26, 2008 that garner about 32 tons of electronics. The site off-loaded an average of three cars per minute. The electronics are called e-waste. About 700 cars dropped off electronics during the event organized by the City of Milwaukee DPW was held on April 26, 2008 More than two thirds of the collection involved computers and related equipment. The DPW collected 643 computer monitors weighing over ten tons; 338 televisions weighing over 5 tons, over 7 tons of personal computers and nearly 5 tons of computer printers. Eight percent of the collection, nearly 5,000 pounds, involved miscellaneous e-waste like cell phones. -------

We were delighted to visit White Brook Middle School in Easthampton, MA to see the amazing work Ms. De Ubl is doing with her science students. Romo has become a major part of her class and the little guy is proving to be a powerful tool for teaching STEM subjects. We were lucky to witness their Romo Parade (a first of its kind!) and were very happy to announce that one of the winners of our Romo Challenge contest was a student in Ms. De Ubl's class. We look forward to continuing to bring Romo to schools and to support teachers in their selfless mission to get kids excited about learning.
